Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

This is one of the most often cited budgeting scripture in the Bible. It shows the necessity of hard work and being prepared for a time when prosperity no longer abounds. A Christian should always save some of their income to guard against a potential job loss or other calamity.
